We get cooking ... with gas ...Spanish stylee

 

 

 

So we've only got about a month left of our 6 month stay here in Spain so we have decided we would like to take something back to the UK to remind us of our stay.

 

There is a fabulous weekly market here in the town of Oliva where we are staying.

 

 

There is a gobsmacking array of fresh produce but they also have stalls selling clothes, shoes and cookware etc.

 

 

 

 

 

 

We have spotted these free standing burners that can be purchased in a variety of sizes along with all sorts of differently sized enamel dishes - this is perfect for al fresco cooking for large groups at parties, festivals or street food markets. We have seen and admired them before in use at other markets both here in Spain and back home.

 

They seem very simple to use and robust as well as being highly portable. So we did a deal with the charming Spanish gentleman on the cookware stall and seemingly got a good price when compared with other outlets we had visited.

 

As soon as we could we gave the burner a try on the terrace in the lovely early evening sunshine with this tagine of chickpeas, aubergines, courgettes and peppers finished off with a squeeze of lemon juice and some freshly chopped coriander - delicious! 

 

 

 

I am looking forward to getting this paellero home and start cooking up some yummy dishes at the first opportunity.....
