Bigger & maybe even better. And of course The Really Good Food Company were there…
The market last Saturday (19th January) held at the Corn Exchange - as usual - was another really successful event.
All the stall holders were asked if we could provide tasters to help promote Veganuary – which we were of course more than happy to do.
We made up tasters of our baguette fillings on little toasted slices of bread (see picture) and also little pastry discs with a teaspoon of filling from our newly introduced Empanadas mentioned in the previous blog.
However, we also tried a different filling of black beans and red peppers, which went down a storm.
They all sold out within the first hour or so!
There was a great response to the three fillings on offer; Coronation Tofu, Chickpea "Chuna" and Wonderful Waldorf (which is a tasty combination of grated vegan cheese finely diced apple & celery with chopped walnuts all mixed up with vegan mayonnaise).
We completely sold out of all our cold fillings before the close of the market at 2.30pm and I am sure this is due to the fact that customers were able to "try before you buy".
The hot panini were as popular as ever and these all sold out too.
A really good day - and we were kept busy – Sam was flat out on the press juggling so many orders.
Fantastic for us and awesome takeaway food for our customers. :)
The next market is being held in March and (flights permitting) we hope to return.
In the meantime our extended food fact finding and vegan recipe search in Spain continues.
We will keep you updated but it is well worth a visit with a wide range of stalls all selling Vegan friendly products including clothing, cosmetics, doughnuts, bakery items as well as several other food stalls.
If you haven't been to one yet - what have you been up to?! Pop along to the next one and see what all the fuss is about. Keep an eye on www.facebook.com/exeterveganmarket/ for all the info news and details.
